How RentProof Reviews a Rental Listing
RentProof is a one-time $19.99 review of a rental listing. It reads what the listing and the messages you received actually say, and shows it back to you clearly before you pay or apply.
What the report contains
- Exact quotes of the stated rent, deposit, and fees
- Payment wording that is hard to reverse, quoted
- Details that conflict with each other, and what is missing
- Questions to ask before paying, plus a PDF copy
How a review works, step by step
1. You give us the listing
Paste the listing link, the listing text, or the landlord's messages, and add screenshots or a lease PDF if you have them. Some sites block automatic reading (for example Zillow, Homes.com and Facebook Marketplace); when that happens we say so straight away and ask you to paste the page text instead.
2. We check there is something to read, before you pay
Before checkout we confirm the material contains listing details we can actually read. If a page returns a login, a bot check or nothing useful, you are asked for the text or screenshots instead, and you are not charged.
3. We pull out exact quotes
The report quotes what the material states about the rent, the deposit and fees, how payment is requested, and the named contact. Each row is an exact quote from what you submitted, or it is marked as not in the submitted material. Amounts are not added into a total we invented.
4. Every quote is checked against your text
An AI model finds the passages; our code then checks that every quote appears in what you submitted before it is shown, and reads the amounts from the quote itself. A quote that cannot be found in your material is dropped, not reworded.
5. We show conflicts, gaps and questions
Where the material contradicts itself (two different rents, a deposit that changes between messages, payment instructions that change), the report shows both quotes. It lists what is missing and gives you questions to ask before you pay. You get the report as a web page and a PDF.
What the report does not do
- We do not verify who the landlord or manager is, or who owns the property.
- We do not compare the rent with market prices.
- We do not confirm that the address exists or that the unit is available.
- We do not say a listing is safe, real or a scam. The report shows what was written so you can decide what to ask.
- It is not legal advice.
For the checks only you can do, such as looking up the owner of record or seeing the unit, our free renter guides walk through each one.
Your data
We store what you submit and the report so we can deliver it and show it in your history. Payments are handled by Stripe. Details are in the privacy policy.
